With the advent of COVID-19, much has gone online and the Voices from the Holy Land (VFHL) film series is no exception. VFHL has reinvented itself as an Online Film Salon as their logo below indicates.
What’s happening, is that VFHL has made arrangements to view their featured film in advance of the online Zoom discussion sessions that frequently feature both the filmmaker and a second speaker deeply steeped in the subject matter.
The VFHL Online Film Salon began in May with the Just Vision series of four short films entitled “Home Front” about Israeli settlers taking over Palestinian homes in the Sheikh Jarrah section of East Jerusalem. Israeli activists Miko Peled was the commentator for that event. (View the films at: Just Vision And then view the VFHL discussion at: Discussion.)
In June, the video of Pamela Nice’s play about the Israeli occupation which is entitled “It’s What We Do” was the subject. And playwright Pamela Nice along with Israeli peace activist Yonathan Shapiro were the discussants. (You can view the film of the play here: “It’s What We Do”. And then watch the discusison at: Discussion.)
